Let’s be honest.
How are those new year’s resolutions coming along?
We’re three weeks into 2019. For me, it’s usually around this time that I either lose enthusiasm or feel a bit daunted by the goals I’ve set. Which is why this year I’ve tried not to overdo it and also remember to include goals that are just plain fun. Having more fun! Yes!
For writing goals, I’ve wanted to work on social media, participate in more writing organizations, and say yes to more writing-related opportunities and events that come my way. (Of course, writing on my WIP and spreading the word about SIDE BY SIDE always come first. But this year was about focusing on the areas that could use a boost.)
For life goals, after a very intense, career-focused 2018, my hub and I want to find more balance this year. That means regularly making time for game nights with friends and family, spending time together outdoors, travelling, and for me, naps. More naps! Yes, yes, yes!!
Simplified, my goals for this year are to put myself out there more, and also take time to enjoy life. I gave a lot to writing last year and I have no regrets. I love working and it’s a huge part of my identity. But I’ve realized that the pace I was keeping wasn’t sustainable. It isn’t easy for a workaholic to take a step back, but I’m already seeing the benefits. More laughter, more energy, more creativity. All of which eventually funnels into my writing. It’s all connected.
How about you? What goals have you set? How are they coming along?
No matter your progress, remember to be kind to yourself. Whatever you’re trying to do, you’re doing it for yourself, right? Might as well enjoy it and cut yourself a little slack along the way.
Thanks for reading,

I am the worst at New Year’s Resolutions. I can never see them through. If I can procrastinate I will. So this year, I didn’t bother. The short term goals which seem to be embedded in my brain for years are still there so it is time hahahaha. I am taking each day as it comes. I will be kind to myself, and I will continue to be the best person I can be.
You have a wonderful day. Lots of Love to you and Noodles xxx
The things you mentioned show that you don’t need resolutions, Lynne! What could be better than living in the present and kindness. I’m going to take a leaf out of your book! Thanks so much for sharing and sending love and hugs! 😊💜🙏
