I’m a bit of a quote nerd, actually. I love posting excerpts from the books that I’m reading (see below), and when I’m searching for answers, it’s not uncommon for me to go on the hunt for quotes to help me understand whatever I’m going through at the time.
The challenge rules are:
1. Post on three consecutive days
2. Pick one or three quotes per day
3. Challenge three different bloggers per day
4. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
I’ve decided to bundle my quotes into one day since things are getting a bit hectic with finishing work and getting organized for the London trip next week. I’ve also decided not to nominate anyone but instead encourage as many of you as possible to participate if the spirit moves you.
So, here we go!
All three of my quotes could have easily been taken from the Dao. This quote reminds me of how little I control, and maybe that’s a good thing. Life is way smarter than I’ll ever be, and whether I believe it or not, whether I accept it or not, it knows what it’s doing. Acceptance always makes the journey a little easier.
This one I’ve included for all the writer folk, but it can apply to anyone. I go back to it every time I get another positive rejection letter from an agent, ha ha. Time and again this quote rings true for me. It also links nicely with the first quote, reminding me that there are greater forces at play than my own wants and perceptions.
For me, this quote boils down to empathy. The longer I live, the more convinced I am that there is nothing more important. The most empathetic people I’ve ever met are those who have faced the hardships of life and survived them. Living through suffering can soften people in the best way. It reminds me that broken hearts are still open hearts, and that putting up walls is a choice. But other choices are just as possible.

Ha ha, ah yes, the positive rejection letter…it’s the ultimate mixed message! ;-) Thanks for the travel well-wishing, still lots to organize, but getting there slowly. Hopefully over the next couple of days I’ll know if I’m staying overnight in the country or not. I will let you know! Are your London tea plans all set by now? I heard about the nasty weather, storm Katie was it? I hope you’re right about the weather!
