Audio Excerpt, Chapter 2, “The Escape Artist”

Hi Everyone,

I have another chapter excerpt for you today! This one is taken from the beginning of Chapter 2 of “The Escape Artist.” I recorded it yesterday, and after listening to it, I realized that I sound a bit tired, my voice a bit more breathy than usual. I think it must have been the residues of the busy book weekend I had.

On Saturday my publisher, Quattro Books, and I attended the semi-annual Ottawa Small Press Book Fair. It was lovely to hang out at our table and chat with other bookworms. On Sunday, we hosted the Ottawa launch of the novella at Pressed cafe on Gladstone, a venue that is turning out to be quite a local arts & culture hot spot. A great spot for a reading. I was pleased to share the stage with a few very talented poets. A huge thanks to those of you who attended and made the event so memorable. The Toronto launch a couple of weeks ago was amazing too, but I can admit to missing my people while I was there. ;)

That’s my little update for now. I hope you enjoy the clip. (Pardon the fuzzy cover pic. I’m not sure why it turned out that way this time. *Grumble*) I’ve included the excerpt from Chapter 1 as well, in case you missed it. Look for another in about a month.

Many thanks,

A :)
