Politics and the Pen Recap!

Author life is many things–engrossing when you’re in the throes of a new WIP, validating when you connect with readers who just get your work, frustrating when you’re feeling creatively blocked, lonely when you see everyone and their cat getting book deals (except you), nerve-racking when you’re on submission or waiting on feedback from your agent…

BUT sometimes it’s pure FUN!

This week I had the pleasure of attending Politics and the Pen at beautiful Fairmont Chateau Laurier as a guest author. I was so honoured and delighted to be invited by Writers’ Trust, an organization I respect and admire for how they support and champion writing and writers in Canada. The event is a huge fundraising effort as well as an award ceremony that recognizes the best of political writing in the country.

Here are a few pics from the event, including this year’s Shaughnessy Cohen Prize winner, John Vaillant’s, acceptance speech for FIRE WEATHER! THE GOLDEN SPRUCE is on my forever shelf, so I was thrilled to see him win.

Just an author about town. 😉
SO cool to see Secret Lives all dressed up on the fancy table!
